All of us at Kegel would like to wish the bowling community a very happy New Year. A new year brings a chance to make resolutions to improve not only ourselves but to improve the bowling environment for our customers.

Everyone should strive for the most consistent lane conditions possible. Having a weekly written schedule for conditioning the lanes can go a long way to create a reliable scoring environment. If you use more than 1 pattern during the week, using the 7-day planner in your lane machine is a great way to ensure that the correct pattern is used every day.  Utilize a simple wall calendar to make the 7-day planner information available to everyone who operates the lane machine. A hard copy like this will act as insurance in the event of a memory loss or accidental change to the scheduler.

Another key to providing the best possible experience for the customer is to make certain the lane conditioning machine is properly maintained. Using the Kegel maintenance chart (158-5350) will help you keep your machine in tip-top shape and properly adjusted.

Make the commitment to track your pinsetter stops. Logging the stops will allow you to see trends that are developing. While a few of a certain stop each day might not seem like a problem, a dozen in a week should alert you that it’s time to address the problem.

From a simple notebook to a program for your computer, tracking stops in any manner can make maintenance easier. Staying ahead of potential problems will create an enjoyable atmosphere for your customers and the bowling center staff.

The bowling experience for the customer should make them want to return and keeping track of your maintenance can create the consistency everyone desires. Just like any resolution, making changes to how you track your maintenance might be hard in the beginning. You need to stick with it. In a few months, it will become second nature. The results will start to show with less pinsetter stops, consistent lane conditions and happier customers.
